WIP: Crusty

Semi-presentable.

Still nowhere near as neat as my 28mm scale miniatures.

On the tabletop, I think he'll do OK.

I have to give credit where credit is due- I have been inspired by the fantastic work of Tiny Solitary Soldiers- and obviously District 9.  I don't think I'll ever get to the wonderful standard I see on-line, but it serves as a constant motivator to improve, try new techniques and play more games!

The actual model itself is a "Crusty" from Ground Zero Games (as an aside- great customer service!!!).  I love this range in particular- and there are (I hope) many posts to come of  Platoon 21 (two one) aka "Christopher Johnson" Platoon.

The Mad Company of Poor Houses

"Not even the poor of Talabheim can escape the tithe of military service."

One of the most notable regiments in the service of House Hansaaker is the Mad Company.  The constant warfare in the Great Forest creates many dispossessed and they flock to the charity of the great families of the City.  The House Lord is generous with his gold, for it buys the gratitude of the common folk.  A ferociously loyal populace is a useful counterweight to the machinations of the nobility and burgomeisters- a lesson learned painfully in the past.  The Mad Company are recruited from the men driven to the brink of insanity by the tribulations of their past.  For simple meals, a blanket and a roof over their head- they will gladly launch themselves at the enemies of the House.

A regiment of Flagellants.

Probably not so effective in WH 8th Edition- but the models looked great.  I promise I will take them out on a 'test battle' soon.

There are the old style flagellants to the rear- but I'm pleased to note that the two styles fit in together (mostly).

Note to Self: Prawns

I'm experimenting with my Crusty's.  I've never painted 15mm before- and never non humans- so this is going to be interesting.

(The Unfinished) Recipe for Prawns:

Celestia Grey- watered down- under/base coat.  Still leaves lots of metal exposed.

Vallejo Game Color- Dark Green- uniform.

Wash- brown ink.  Good definition of detail, however it looks messy.  Perhaps separate washes?  Badab black for skin/ weapons.  Green ink for uniform?

Highlight: Golden Olive (?change it up).  Perhaps a greater contrast is needed?

Weapons: Celestra Grey, highlight with Ulthuan Grey.  Weapon stripe: Evil Sun Scarlet.

Webbing: Evil Sun Scarlet.

VERDICT: quick but nasty.

I'll tinker with it.

WIP: Overflowing With Miniatures

As I hold my breath waiting for my 20mm bases to arrive, I've been painting my Games Workshop Warhammer: Empire figures.  (They are 28mm scale).

I've been wargaming/ collecting for almost 2 decades but dropped off the wargaming map for the past 8 years.

Now that life has presented me with an opportunity to get back into it- I'm taking it with both hands!

Without further ado- I present my current project:  The Hansaaker Lifeguards (Empire Greatswords).

A bit more to do before the regiment is complete.
