Knights of Dice: Hutton D3 Transport

When BladeRunner is life
I won this as a prize.  And it was time to paint it well!

Warmill MindLab

Better than alcohol.
Another kit I had lying around my hobby space begging for paint.

With a bit more experience after the last few MDF kits I felt up to the challenge.

Warmill: Restaurant "MoreBucks" and "Smug Clint's"

Morebucks!
I had two of these kits and in my mad streak of terrain building they were the first and last kits that I put together and painted in this session.

Neater and nicer... Smug Clint's
The difference between the two of them in quality of paint work is subtle but apparent!  Who says progress is always slow?

Warsenal Kum Biker Garage

Warsenal Kum Biker Garage.  Kum at me!
So I have a confession to make.   I have boxes of Warsenal terrain sitting in my cupboard.  Shipped across many oceans and costing a pretty penny- they have sat wrapped up and unloved in a cupboard.

That stops now.

A Manly Doll House- Armoury and Guard House.

Best doll house ever!
Every so often I get fed up painting miniatures and want to experiment with some terrain.

I've always been fascinated with terrain that has lots of little details in it.  Most of the time I never bother detailing terrain- after all, it's the miniatures that are the stars and they take the most time.  Still, a few simple techniques with an airbrush don't take too much time and the effect is great!

I even did furniture!

USAriadna Goes to Cancon 2017

Its time to defend that constitution.
Having whelped this 300 point army, it was time to take it to the big leagues (for me!).

I paid for a ticket and travelled to Canberra for CanCon 2017, Australia's "Nationals" for Infinity and what looked like a tonne of other game systems out there.

By this stage I had played seven games with USA... eight if you count that battle report from 2015... but I was dead keen to enter the beauty pageant!

And if getting punished in 5 games over two days against the best in the country is what it takes to get there then by Jove that's what I'll do....

Terrain: CNC Workshop- Desert Buggies

No turret mounted HMGs or MLs... yet.
Some more scatter terrain for the coming tournament.

These are Desert Buggies from CNC Workshop.  I don't like them nearly as much as the Police Tactical Vehicle nor the Heavy Forklift for two main reasons.

1.  Irritating to assemble- Front suspension needing a lot of glue to weld to the rear suspension piece.
2. Overall blocky aesthetic- with obvious panels.

That being said, they are two vehicles to one pack and they'll do the job of being scatter terrain on the road.

Terrain: Industrial Fork Lift

Ferrari fork lift
Another bit of terrain I finished off.

My gaming group is in the process of fixing up a table for the next tournament so I've found myself putting stuff together that has sat around collecting dust for months!

This is another MDF terrain kit from CNC Workshop.  Originally, I wasn't too enthused at attempting another vehicle but I'm glad I did this one as it's a great kit!

Terrain: Vehicles- Police Car

Dead or Alive, you're coming with me.
I don't normally blog about terrain- but this police car looked so cool on the table top I thought it deserved it's own post!

Completed MAS Building

Finally finished....
I finally completed this monstrosity last week.

This is a Micro Arts Studio MDF building which a friend of mine asked me to help him to complete.  I didn't envisage it turning into an extravaganza- but it did!

After hold ups with getting paints and other Real Life hiccups, it is now ready for varnishing.

MAS Building- Level G

I would not live in this place
This is a building I am fixing up for a friend.

It is a 3 level MAS building from Micro Art Studios.

I got carried away and started painting it like a model... and have found I've bitten off a bit more than I can chew.

Definitive MAF Colour Template

This post will attempt to standardise my painting technique to give a unified look to the Morat army.

Airbrush: Trying It Out

Yesterday, I headed over to a mate's house to try out his airbrush on some scatter terrain.

The airbrush was a standard beginner's airbrush with a stock standard compressor.  The paints were Vallejo Model Colour/ Game Colour (all very diluted) and some Vallejo Air Colour (also diluted slightly).  The terrain was resin terrain that was washed in dish washing liquid and then dried by hand.

Rivers

I've been snowed under by work recently so I have done precious little painting.  However, I will show some of the rivers I painted.

Painted Miniatures Need Good Terrain

So this big box turned up on my door step today!

I was very excited.  Taking my box cutter to it....

Hooray!

Prompt delivery and all the bits I needed- thank you Games Empire.

If you have noticed a slight World War 2 theme... barring the Energon crystals... you would be correct.  The Flames of War terrain (by Gale Force 9) looks excellent, all I need to do is give it a bit of a touch up with the static grass and then blast it with varnish.

A note to prospective buyers re: the Large Summer Wood.  Those trees are probably more suited to 28mm gaming than 15mm gaming.  I stood a GZG Crusty next to one of those trees and it TOWERED over him.  Not that this is unrealistic, I might add- I do recall walking amongst the canopy of pine trees in Canada that were dozens of metres tall.  But, just in terms of ease of spotting the little prawn buggers, the "Small Summer Wood" might be a better choice.

I'm going to have to clear out a few shelves of crusty old university notes to make space for this stuff but so be it!  Progress requires sacrifices!

I'm very happy with my new stuff.

I promise there is a battle report in the offing- and all of this Flames of War terrain will start to make sense.
